DENVER, CO – The Denver Office of Emergency Management, in partnership with the Denver International Airport plan to test Outdoor Warning Sirens around the city and at the airport at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24.

The test was originally scheduled for Wednesday, May 10 but was rescheduled due to inclement weather. Residents can expect to hear the siren for at least three minutes and is solely meant to ensure Denver’s outdoor public siren system is working effectively; therefore, there is no need for residents to take action or be alarmed. The outdoor sirens are intended to warn community members of life-threatening weather-related emergencies.

In advance of this test, we encourage everyone to take time and review their family emergency preparedness plans, kits, and to register for a DenverREADY or DenverLISTO class to increase their emergency preparedness. For more information on preparedness courses, visit www.denvergov.org/DenverREADY.
