The City and County of Denver is providing this daily update on the ongoing activity to support migrant sheltering:

Arriving migrants are currently being welcomed at the city’s Reception Center between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The Reception Center is currently open seven days a week. The Reception Center has relocated to a different city-owned facility and began operations in its new location at 8 a.m. on Sunday, May 21. The hours of operation will remain the same.

Currently there are five shelters housing over 1,200 people.

As of Monday, May 22, below are the most up-to-date numbers reflected in the city dashboard*:

Number of Migrants that Arrived on May 22 (as of 5/22/23 at noon): 96

Total Number of Migrants Served by the City since Dec. 9 (as of 5/22/23 at noon): 10,479

Number of Migrants Sheltered in City Emergency Shelters (as of 5/22/23 at noon): 142

Number of Migrants Sheltered in Partner Emergency Shelters (as of 5/22/23 at noon):1,085

*Please note: These numbers only reflect those we have been able to serve, and not those who haven’t been processed yet.

Call for Assistance and Donations

With the sharp increase in migrant arrivals, the shelters are nearing capacity limits, and the city is calling on neighboring municipalities and the federal government to assist. Individuals and organizations interested in volunteering should visit Denvergov.org/MigrantSupport for more information on how to help.

The Denver Dream Center (2165 Curtis St, Denver, CO, 80205) is accepting donations Monday-Thursday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Please contact info@denverdc.org prior to delivering to the Dream Center, so staff are prepared to receive your donations. Please drop off donations at the loading zone in front of their building. If that area is full, please drop donations at the small parking lot attached to their building.

The Interfaith Alliance of Colorado is accepting donations at First Baptist Church, 1373 Grant St. Denver, CO 80203, beginning this Thursday, May 25. Donations will only be accepted on Thursdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Servicios de la Raza (3131 W 14th Ave, Denver, CO 80204) is also accepting non-perishable food donations every Monday-Thursday from 1-4 p.m.

The following donated items are requested:

• Hygiene product kits (please have the items below all ready to grab in a resealable plastic bag)
• Soap
• Deodorant
• Toothpaste
• Toothbrushes

Menstrual hygiene product kits

Diapers (Sizes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6)

Baby wipes (preferably in bulk)

Socks (new / unopened only)

The Newcomers Fund is currently accepting monetary donations from the public. Donations will go directly to the city’s nonprofit partners who are supporting migrants with resource navigation, shelter, and other services. You can also help out by volunteering to support the response.

Media Note

The dashboard is updated three times per day at 8 a.m., noon, and 6 p.m. The Joint Information Center will be monitoring and replying to media inquiries from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 22, Monday, May 22, through Friday, May 26. Media should send all inquiries via email to JIC_News@denvergov.org. When there is important, breaking news, we will provide additional updates and be available for interviews as needed.

Actualización diaria sobre acogida y apoyo a migrantes para el 22/5/23

La ciudad y el condado de Denver brindan esta actualización diaria sobre la actividad en curso para apoyar el alojamiento de migrantes:

Actualmente, los migrantes que llegan son recibidos en el Centro de Recepción de la ciudad entre las 8 a. m. y las 5 p. m. El Centro de Recepción está actualmente abierto los siete días de la semana. El Centro de Recepción se ha trasladado a una instalación diferente propiedad de la ciudad y comenzó a operar en su nueva ubicación a las 8 a. m. del domingo 21 de mayo. El horario de atención seguirá siendo el mismo.

Actualmente hay cinco albergues que albergan a más de 1.200 personas.

De viernes 22 de mayo, a continuación figuran las cifras más actualizadas reflejadas en el tablero de mandos de la ciudad*:

Número de migrantes quenes llegaron hoy (a partir del 22/05/2023 almedio día): 96

Llamado de ayuda y donaciones:

Con el fuerte aumento de llegadas de inmigrantes, los albergues están llegando al límite de su capacidad, y la ciudad está pidiendo ayuda a los municipios vecinos y al gobierno federal. Las personas y organizaciones interesadas en colaborar como voluntarios deben visitar Denvergov.org/MigrantSupport para obtener más información sobre cómo ayudar.

El Denver Dream Center (2165 Curtis St, Denver, CO, 80205) acepta donaciones de lunes a jueves entre las 9 en la mananaa las 3 en la tarde. Póngase en contacto con info@denverdc.org antes de entregarlas en el Dream Center, para que el personal esté preparado para recibirlas. Deposite las donaciones en la zona de carga situada frente al edificio. Si esa zona está llena, deposite las donaciones en el pequeño aparcamiento anexo al edificio.

La Alianza Interreligiosa de Colorado está aceptando donaciones en la Primera Iglesia Bautista (1373 Grant St. Denver, CO 80203), a partir de este jueves, 25 de mayo. Sólo se aceptarán donaciones los jueves de 10 de la mañana a 2 de la tarde.

Servicios de la Raza (3131 W 14th Ave, Denver, CO 80204) también acepta donaciones de alimentos no perecederos de lunes a jueves de 1 de la tarde a 4 de la tarde.

El Fondo Para Recién llegados o Newcomers Fund está acuralmente aceptando donaciones monetarias por parte del público. Las donaciones irán diréctamente  a organizaciones sin fines de lucro operando como aliados en la ciudad y quienes están apoyando a migrantes recién llegados tanto en navegar y adquirir recursos disponibles, como con refugios y otros servicios. También usted puede ayudar visitando a voluntario de apoyo a esfuerzos,

Nota a los Medios de Comunicación: 

El Centro de Información Conjunta supervisará y responderá a las preguntas de los medios de comunicación de 9.00 a 17.00 horas hoy lunes 22 de mayo, hasta el viernes, 26 de mayo. Los medios de comunicación deben enviar sus preguntas por correo electrónico a JIC_News@denvergov.org. Cuando haya noticias importantes y de última hora, proporcionaremos actualizaciones adicionales y estaremos disponibles para entrevistas según sea necesario.
