The City and County of Denver is providing this daily update on the ongoing activity to support migrant sheltering:

Arriving migrants are currently being welcomed at the city’s Reception Center between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The Reception Center will be open throughout the week and next weekend.

The city is doing everything possible to ensure people are not unsheltered, especially given sudden changes in weather that often occur in Denver during the spring. Currently there are five shelters housing more than 1,000 people.

As of Monday, May 15, below are the most up-to-date numbers reflected in the city dashboard*:

• Number of Migrants that Arrived Yesterday (as of 5/14/23 at noon): 125
• Number of Migrants that Arrived on May 15 (as of 5/15/23 at noon): 144
• Total Number of Migrants Served by the City since Dec. 9 (as of 5/15/23 at noon): approximately 9,859
• Number of Migrants Sheltered in City Emergency Shelters (as of 5/15/23 at noon): 150
• Number of Migrants Sheltered in Partner Emergency Shelters (as of 5/15/23 at noon): 1,016

*Please note: These numbers only reflect those we have been able to serve, and not those who haven’t been processed yet.

Call for Assistance and Donations

With the sharp increase in migrant arrivals this week, the shelters are nearing capacity limits, and the city is calling on community partners including non-profits, churches, and other organizations to assist with shelters, donations, and other general support. Interested organizations should visit www.denvergov.org/migrantsupport and click the “Sign Up to Help Migrants in Denver” button.

For the those wishing to donate items, two organizations are supporting that effort:

• The Denver Dream Center (2165 Curtis St, Denver, CO, 80205) will be the primary site effective Wednesday, May 17. For more information on the Denver Dream Center donation site contact info@denverdc.org.
• The Potters House of Denver (9495 E Florida Ave, Denver, CO, 80247) will start accepting only coordinated drop-offs on Monday, May 22. To coordinate a drop-off, please contact donations@denvergov.org. Any item not previously coordinated for drop-off, will not be accepted.

The following donated items are requested:

• Soap
• Deodorant
• Toothpaste
• Toothbrushes
• Menstrual hygiene products (preferably in bulk)
• Diapers (sizes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6)
• Baby wipes (preferably in bulk)
• Men's and women's small size underwear (new and unopened only)
• Hygiene kits pre-packed with the above supplies

The Newcomers Fund is currently accepting monetary donations from the public. Donations will go directly to the city’s nonprofit partners who are supporting migrants with resource navigation, shelter, and other services. You can also help out by volunteering to support the response.

Media Note

The dashboard is updated three times per day at 8 a.m., noon, and 6 p.m. The Joint Information Center will be monitoring and replying to media inquiries from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, May 15 through Friday, May, 19 and between 9 a.m. and noon over the weekend. Media should send all inquiries via email to JIC_News@denvergov.org. When there is important, breaking news, we will provide additional updates and be available for interviews as needed.

Actualización Diaria Sobre Refugio y Apoyo para Migrantes para 5/15/23

The Ciudad y el Condado de Denver provee la siguiente actualización sobre actividades actules para apoyar los esfuerzos de asistencia a migrantes recién llegados:

Durante la última semana, Denver a recibido un promedio de 250 migrantes por día, un aumento significativo a los números de llegadas en meses pasados. Los migrantes recién llegados están siendo recibidos en el centro de recepción en la ciudad entre las horas de 8am á 5pm. El centro de recepción permanecerá abierto durante el fin de semana. A todos aquellos quienes permacen en línea fuera de las horas de operaciones, se les continuará proveyendo refugio y se les pide que regresen al día siguiente para obtener servicio.

La ciudad continúa haciendo todo lo posible para asegurar que todos obtengan refugio, especialmente tomando en consideración las condiciones del tiempo severas que ocurren usualmente durante la primera en Denver. Actualmente hay 5 refugios activos, dando albergue a más de 1.000 personas.

Llamado de ayuda y donaciones:

Con el fuerte aumento de llegadas de migrantes esta semana, los refugios están alcanzando su límite, por lo que le hacemos un llamado de ayuda a nuestros aliados comunitarios, incluyendo a las organizaciones sin fines de lucro, iglesias, y otras organizaciones que puedan asistir con regugios, donaciones, y otro tipo de apoyo. Las organizaciones interesadas en ser parte de este esfuerzo, favor de visitar www.denvergov.org/migrantsupport y hacerle click a “Sign Up to Help Migrants in Denver.”

Esas personas quienes desean donar suministros, las siguients organizaciones están apoyando este esfuerzo:

El Fondo Para Recién llegados o Newcomers Fund está acuralmente aceptando donaciones monetarias por parte del público. Las donaciones irán diréctamente  a organizaciones sin fines de lucro operando como aliados en la ciudad y quienes están apoyando a migrantes recién llegados tanto en navegar y adquirir recursos disponibles, como con refugios y otros servicios. También usted puede ayudar visitando a voluntario de apoyo a esfuerzos,
