Denver’s Visionary Transportation Plan Lays Framework for Community-led Priorities and Path Forward

DENVER – In partnership with the community, Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) has completed its long-range, citywide strategic transportation plan, establishing the vision for the future of transportation in Denver and how to make it a reality.

The Denver Moves Everyone 2050 Plan calls for greater equity in Denver’s transportation system and providing more travel choices that are:

  • accessible and affordable
  • safe, secure and comfortable
  • better for the environment including our air and water
  • destination-driven, with streets designed for people and shaped by communities and cultures
  • well-maintained in a state of good repair
The plan also aims to eliminate transportation barriers created over the city’s history that disproportionately impact black people, indigenous people and people of color (BIPOC) and places a keen focus on prioritization of resources to deliver on this community-driven vision.

“A key facet of Denver Moves Everyone 2050 is that it outlines the level of investments that are needed to achieve the plan’s vision and we can use this information to guide our annual budget requests and identify and communicate gaps,” said Adam Phipps, Executive Director of DOTI. “In the short-term, the plan will help us prioritize projects that address immediate needs while laying the groundwork for long-term investments that move us further toward our goals.”
