Denver City Council Member Jolon Clark encouraged Denver residents to get involved in the participatory budget process.

Clark included the link to where residents can know more about the program.

"Vote!" Clark said in a tweet. "In Denver's first participatory budgeting program, residents have direct decision-making power over $2 million and a D7 project needs your help! Vote for accessible sidewalks around @Denver_Housing 's Walsh Manor at 1790 W Mosier Place! https://risetogetherdenver.org/hub-page/denverPB."

In the first cycle of the Denver community-led participatory budgeting, residents have a say in the selection of $2 million of neighborhood infrastructure. The fund is divided: $1 million for top infrastructure projects across the city and $1 million for top infrastructure projects in far northeast Denver, east Denver and east central Denver.

Residents can voice their opinions and help choose the funded projects through the same website provided by Clark in his tweet.

Residents will lead Denver PB over the next several months and make big decisions during all six phases of the program. A community steering committee will  design the program rules. Brainstorming will follow as residents share and discuss ideas through community meetings and online tools. Community budget delegates develop ideas into proposals for each project and in the fourth phase, residents will have the power to vote on proposals that best meet their community’s needs. The city will then construct or implement the proposals voted on and selected by residents. The last phase is the "Learning and Next Cycle" in which Denver will learn from the first cycle's evaluation and plan for future participatory budgeting cycles.
