Denver's District 6 Councilman Paul Kashmann has encouraged city residents to consider donating toys and other basic necessities to the Holiday Gift Drive to bring a little cheer to people in need this holiday season.
In a Nov. 15 tweet, Kashmann said donated gifts would be going to clients served by Denver Human Services (DHS).
"Hey, Denver: Be a Giver and support our Holiday Gift Drive! We are collecting gifts for neighbors in need served by Denver DHS," Kashmann wrote in the tweet. "The drive helps ensure they feel connected and supported this holiday season. The drive ends Nov. 30."
People interested in donating can sponsor either a child, teenager, older adult or an entire family who receives services from DHS, according to the City of Denver's website. Donors can begin registering on Monday, Nov. 21, until all clients are matched.
DHS has created a list of items to consider purchasing for this holiday gift drive. It includes things like underwear, blankets, gift cards, toys and clothes. The complete list can be found on the city's website.
Donors can either schedule a time to drop off purchased items, or have them mailed directly to Denver Human Services at: GIVE Holidays, 1200 Federal Blvd., Denver, CO 80204.
