In a Nov. 9 Tweet, the City and County of Denver shared that many city offices would be closed on Veterans Day.

Most city offices were closed Friday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day. This included the mayor's office, City Council offices.

On Nov. 12, runners in Denver participated in a 5K/10K run at the City Park. There was also a virtual option, where participants could record their times for a 5K/10K online through RunSignUp.com. Regardless of finish time, racers received a medal, race T-shirt, and commemorative race bib.

The festival included events on Nov. 5, when there was a parade and festival at Civic Center Park. It was put together by the Colorado Veterans Project. According to the parade website, it was broken down into serials that represent a different conflict in military history: Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWI, WWII, etc. Each serial representation featured military memorabilia from that era, including old uniforms, vehicles and weapons.

Members of veteran organizations marched together to showcase their organization’s historical roots, and the event also featured corporate floats, car clubs, marching units and bands.

According to Uncover Colorado, this was the 14th year for the Denver Veterans Day Festival.
