This week on Twitter, attorney Karl Dierenbach, a Colorado resident, said Colorado abortion laws are so extreme that people travel from other states to get abortions in Colorado.

He also pointed out that most U.S. states, as well as most European countries, have more restrictions on abortion than Colorado.

The majority of countries in the European Union ban abortions after 12 weeks into a pregnancy, a Right to Life report said. Countries with bans after 12 weeks include Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Ireland and Italy. Some countries ban abortions after 10 or 11 weeks, including Croatia, Estonia, Portugal and Slovenia. Poland has almost completely outlawed abortions, with exceptions for cases of rape, incest or if the mother's life is in danger.

"Colorado has the most radical abortion laws on the planet," Dierenbach tweeted. " Any reason, and time. ... People travel to Colorado so they can kill their late-term viable babies. And we are happy to oblige."

The Fuller Project, which put together a compilation of state laws on abortion in the wake of Roe v. Wade, reported that Colorado is one of just six states in the country with no limitations on abortion whatsoever. States including California and New York have limits on abortions after 24 weeks into pregnancy.

Approximately 11% of abortions in Colorado in 2019 were performed on women who traveled there from other states, data from the Kaiser Family Foundation showed.

11,580 women had abortions in Colorado in 2021, a surge from 10,368 in 2020; Abort73 said, citing information from the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment. The Guttmacher Institute estimated that 17.9% of pregnancies in Colorado in 2020 ended in abortion (miscarriages not factored in).

Dierenbach is an engineer-turned-attorney who lives in the Denver area and helped author the book "UNMASKED 2020: Colorado’s Radical Left Turn and a Warning to America," The Federalist said.
