CITY AND COUNTY OF DENVER: Denver Animal Shelter, Animal Protection ask for the public’s help this GivingTuesday

City and County of Denver issued the following announcement on Nov. 23.

It’s been a challenging 2020 for so many, including the vulnerable animals who find their way to the Denver Animal Shelter (DAS) and Denver Animal Protection (DAP). That’s why this year’s GivingTuesday – the global day of giving on Tuesday, December 1 – is such a critical day for the programs that keep Denver’s forgotten souls safe, loved and cared for year-round.

DAS and DAP rely on the generosity of community members to help us offer hope for the future to the animals who find refuge at our facility. All donations are used directly to support our animals and the community through the many services DAS offers in conjunction with DAP, a division of the Denver Department of Public Health & Environment, including:

  • Emergency medical services
  • Spay and neuter services
  • Safe Haven Program offering two to four weeks of shelter for pets of families experiencing temporary homelessness, for any reason
  • Shelter-Neuter-Return program to help combat feral overpopulation in the city
  • Foster care
  • Humane Education
  • Bite prevention and animal safety outreach
  • Community Engagement
  • Pet owner support
DAS provides all of this and more, with the ultimate goal of helping homeless, abused, and abandoned animals who need our help find their loving forever home.
