Denver – Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) would like to make residents aware of improvements being made along a stretch of East 56th Avenue that will result in adjustments to vehicle travel starting this Friday, June 9, through November 2023.

Crews working on the East 56th Avenue Travel and Safety Improvement Project have reached a key milestone, completing work on new travel lanes on the north side of E 56th Avenue between Peoria Street and Peña Boulevard. Now crews will move vehicles onto that new pavement to improve the travel lanes on the south side of East 56th and make storm drainage improvements at E 56th Avenue and Uvalda Street.

The realignment of vehicle travel lanes will restrict access to and from E. 56th Avenue at various neighborhood entrances, and access to and from E. 56th Avenue will only be available at signalized intersections between Peoria Street and Peña Boulevard:

  • Peoria Street
  • Crown Boulevard
  • Chambers Road
  • Memphis Street
  • Peña Boulevard

Access to all residences within the Montbello neighborhood will be maintained via detour routes. Maps of the detour routes and restricted entrances are attached and can also be found on the project website.

We appreciate the public’s patience as we work to improve safety for all on East 56th Avenue.
