Thirteen former University of Denver men’s lacrosse players have been named to the opening night rosters for the 2026 National Lacrosse League (NLL) season. The NLL teams announced their rosters on Monday, ahead of the league’s four-game opening weekend.

The first night featured a close contest as the Oshawa Fire Wolves played their inaugural game in their new city, defeating Toronto by one goal. Alex Simmons, a Denver alumnus, led Oshawa with six points, including two goals and four assists. Ethan Walker, another former Denver player, scored both his goals in the fourth quarter and assisted on one of Simmons’ goals in the second quarter. Walker secured the win with a goal that broke a 7-7 tie with less than a minute remaining.

San Diego also saw contributions from former Denver players during Saturday’s opener. Wes Berg recorded one goal and four assists for San Diego, reaching his 400th career assist milestone. Trevor Baptiste helped lead San Diego to a significant advantage on faceoffs and collected 13 loose balls while scoring his first goal of the season early in the second quarter.

Other former Denver players made appearances across several teams: Richie Connell and Zach Miller suited up for Georgia; Brendan Bomberry played for Halifax; Noah Manning and Tyler Pace represented Calgary; Josh Dawick, Mark Matthews, and TD Ierlan were on Toronto’s roster; Danny Logan joined Berg and Baptiste in San Diego.

Upcoming games include Oshawa facing Halifax on Friday, December 5 at 4 p.m. MT and Calgary playing Saskatchewan on Saturday, December 6 at 6 p.m. MT. All games will be available to watch on ESPN+.
