Brush Wins Again at SCAC Championships

Senior Kate Brush captured her second SCAC title in as many days and fifth of her career Friday at the 2023 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships at the Garland ISD Natatorium.
 
Brush won the 100-yard butterfly with an SCAC Meet record and NCAA 'B' cut time of 55.08 seconds. Freshmen Sarah Buchman and Megan Simonson finished the race in fourth and eighth place, respectively.
 
Freshman Malia Hewitt broke her own school record and finished second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.16, touching the wall less than one second behind champion Josie Gillentine of Trinity University.
 
Junior Gina Lynch garnered all-SCAC honors with a third-place finish in the 200 freestyle in 1:54.88, followed by senior Emma Phillips in fourth and freshman Grace Ersfeld O'Brien in eighth.
 
Sophomore Nabila Argueta placed fourth in the 400 IM (4:44.44) while freshman Alexis Lee was fifth in the 100 backstroke ((58.51).
 
In the final event of the night, the Tigers finished second in the 400 medley relay. Lee, Hewitt, Brush and Buchman recorded a time of 3:54.59.
 
During Friday afternoon's 3-meter diving, sophomore Emma Krasemann finished third with a score of 422.10, while senior Peyton Classon took fourth with 408.60 points.
 
Colorado College remains in second place in the women's standings with a three-day total of 525 points. Trinity stayed in first with 724. Original source can be found here.
