Rep. Diana DeGette, who represents Colorado’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets in early April 2026 criticizing former President Donald Trump and celebrating recent achievements in Denver hockey.
On April 7, DeGette wrote, “Donald Trump is openly threatening war crimes against the entirety of Iranian civilization. 25th Amendment proceedings must begin immediately, but if the Cabinet is too cowardly, the House should begin the impeachment process now.” Later that day, she added, “25th Amendment. Impeachment. Trump is a threat to our country and to the world. He has to go.”
Three days later, on April 10, DeGette shifted focus to local sports accomplishments: “What an exciting night for Denver hockey! The Pios took down Michigan in DOUBLE OT and are headed to the Frozen Four Championship Game on Saturday seeking their 11th national title — and if that wasn’t enough, the Avs just clinched the Presidents’ Trophy as they chase their 4th”
DeGette has served Colorado’s 1st district since 1997 after succeeding Pat Schroeder in Congress. She previously held office in the Colorado House of Representatives from 1993 to 1997. Born in Tachikawa, Japan in 1957 and currently residing in Denver at age 65, DeGette graduated from Colorado College with a BA before earning her JD from New York University.
