Rep. Diana DeGette, a longtime member of Congress representing Colorado’s 1st district, posted a series of tweets on October 6 and 7, 2025, addressing ongoing political developments in the U.S. House of Representatives.
On October 6, DeGette posted two tweets. The first included only links: “https://t.co/7Cth0P7sVr https://t.co/DrSNIOivms” (October 6, 2025). Later that day, she commented on the federal government shutdown and legislative delays, writing, “Donald Trump and his Republican allies in Congress shut down the government as the Epstein Files discharge petition sits just 1 signature short of the required 218. Adelita Grijalva is ready to be sworn in, but instead of doing that, Speaker Johnson gave House Republicans more” (October 6, 2025).
On October 7, DeGette referenced public opinion regarding health care policy, stating, “57% of self-identified MAGA voters want to see the ACA tax credits extended. You hear that, @SpeakerJohnson? https://t.co/eskcPhcRMV” (October 7, 2025).
DeGette has represented Colorado’s 1st district in Congress since 1997, succeeding Pat Schroeder. Prior to her tenure in the U.S. House, she served in the Colorado House of Representatives from 1993 to 1997. DeGette was born in Tachikawa, Japan in 1957 and currently resides in Denver. She holds a BA from Colorado College and a JD from New York University.
