Rep. Diana DeGette, U.S. Congresswoman representing Colorado’s 1st district since 1997, posted several messages on her social media accounts between April 5 and April 6, 2026, addressing topics ranging from holiday greetings to labor negotiations and U.S. foreign policy.
On April 5, DeGette extended a message to her constituents celebrating Easter: “Happy Easter! To everyone celebrating today, I hope you cherish this time to honor your faith and be with the people you love.” (April 5, 2026).
Later that day, she commented on ongoing labor negotiations: “This is great news—I’m glad the parties are talking, and I hope this ends with a deal the workers feel empowered by.” (April 5, 2026).
On April 6, DeGette criticized former President Donald Trump’s military actions in Iran: “Trump’s illegal war in Iran is costing the American people $11,500 every second. While every day costs are skyrocketing here at home, he’s spending our tax dollars on war instead of child care, health care, and affordable housing. That’s unacceptable, and I refuse to vote for a” (April 6, 2026).
DeGette has represented Colorado’s 1st congressional district since replacing Pat Schroeder in 1997. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the Colorado House of Representatives from 1993 to 1997. Born in Tachikawa, Japan in 1957 and currently residing in Denver at age 65, DeGette holds a BA from Colorado College and a JD from New York University.
