Two podium finishes by Denver Pioneers women’s alpine skier Mia Hunt led her to win the overall women’s slalom title at the 2025 Murphy Roberts Holiday Classic. Hunt, a senior, finished second in Friday night’s slalom at Howelsen Hill Ski Area in Steamboat Springs and secured first place in Saturday morning’s slalom, claiming the overall crown for the discipline.

This marks the fifth consecutive year that a Denver Pioneer has taken home an overall title at the Holiday Classic. Graduate student Sara Rask won the honor in both 2023 and 2024, Nora Brand claimed it in 2022, and Simon Fournier was champion in 2021.

Because of snow conditions at Steamboat Resort, this year’s alpine giant slalom events were moved to Aspen Highlands for the event’s 25th anniversary.

Hunt also competed in those giant slalom races, finishing sixth on Wednesday and fifteenth on Thursday. In Friday’s night slalom, she recorded the fastest second run to move from seventh place to second.

Sara Rask achieved top-five finishes in all three races she completed: third and second places in Aspen’s two giant slaloms and fourth place in Friday’s night slalom.

Senior Adrian Minde Hunshammer led Denver’s men with third- and fourth-place finishes in Aspen’s GS events. Senior Christian Soevik placed fifth in Wednesday’s GS and secured two seventh-place results in both Steamboat slaloms last week.

On the women’s side, senior Nicola Rountree-Williams finished fourth on Wednesday’s GS race and posted top-10 results across all four events.

Recent alumni Storm Klomhaus, Galena Wardle (women), Jack Bowers, and Cooper Cornelius (men) also participated.

Full results from December 17–20 included multiple top-10 placements for Denver skiers across men’s and women’s giant slalom and slalom races at Aspen Highlands and Howelsen Hill. The detailed breakdown lists times and rankings for each competitor over four days of racing.
