The University of Denver has announced that Lucy Eggleston will join its women’s triathlon team for the 2026 fall season. Eggleston, from Randleman, North Carolina, expressed enthusiasm about her decision to sign with the Pioneers.
“I instantly clicked with the amazing coaching staff at DU and loved the campus, facilities and the team,” Eggleston said. “Denver is such a unique city—having a beautiful campus along with everything the area offers just really cemented my decision.
“The triathlon team has great goals and coach Barbara Perkins really made an impression with her values and priorities for the team. After my visit, I just felt very excited to become a part of DU.”
Eggleston currently competes for Podium Coaching Group and previously raced for E3 Endurance. She is recognized as a five-time USA Triathlon All-American and recently won the U.S. 2024 Age Group Sprint National Championship (16-19). In addition, she was named the 2024 USA Triathlon Female Athlete of the Year (age 16-19) while also ranking first in her age group (16-17). At international level, she placed seventh in her age category at the 2024 World Triathlon Championships held in Torremolinos-Andalucia, Spain.
Academically, Eggleston attends U.S. Performance Academy after starting high school at Greensboro Day School. During her time there, she earned all-state honors twice in cross country and collected eight all-conference awards across cross country and track between seventh and tenth grade. She was also named varsity cross country MVP at Greensboro Day School for three consecutive years from 2021 to 2023.
Beyond athletics, Eggleston enjoys cooking, crochet, playing violin, listening to true crime podcasts, coaching young athletes in triathlon, and supporting organizations such as North Carolina Wildlife Habitat Foundation (NCWHF), E3 Youth Triathlon, and Fairfield Methodist Church.
She plans to major in physiology in health and disease while pursuing a master’s degree in sports coaching at Denver.
