During the 2022-23 school year, school administrators in State Charter School Institute handed out 1,898 disciplinary actions, according to the Colorado Department of Education. That’s a decrease from the previous school year.
Hispanic or Latino students suffered the most disciplinary actions (55%), followed by white students (32.9%), multiracial students (5.8%), and Black students (4.6%).
In comparison, Hispanic or Latino students made up 34.4%, white students accounted for 54.5%, Black students for 3.7%, Asian students for 2.9%, multiracial students for 4.3%, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander students for 0.2% of overall enrollment in Denver schools during 2022-23.
Colorado lawmakers approved a $43.9 billion budget for 2025-26 that increases funding for K-12 schools and higher education, though by less than originally promised due to a $1.2 billion shortfall.
