FOIA Request to Metropolitan State University of Denver Regarding Chinese National Students on June 3, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Denver City Wire have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Metropolitan State University of Denver. This request seeks information concerning Chinese National students currently enrolled at the university.

The request specifically asks for documents or lists detailing all current students who are Chinese Nationals, including their department of study. If certain information is protected, we have requested the total number of such students and a breakdown by department. Additionally, we seek details about scholarships awarded to these students, including the amount and source of each scholarship.

Furthermore, we have inquired about any recipients of scholarships affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council and requested policies or procedures that describe how the university monitors students—particularly Chinese Nationals—to protect its Intellectual Property and other confidential information.

This request is made on behalf of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to investigating state and federal governmental agencies. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe this transparency will help hold public institutions accountable and provide valuable insights into governmental actions.
