FOIA Request to Community College of Denver Regarding Chinese National Students on June 3, 2025.

As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local governmental affairs, we at Denver City Wire have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Community College of Denver. Our request seeks detailed information concerning the presence and academic involvement of Chinese National students at the institution.

The specific details requested include:

1. Documents or lists showing all current students who are Chinese Nationals, categorized by their department of study. If privacy concerns arise, we have asked for the total number of such students along with a departmental breakdown.

2. Records detailing scholarships awarded to these students, including the amount and source of each scholarship.

3. A list identifying recipients of scholarships from grantors affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council, unless this information is already covered in the previous request.

4. Policies or procedures outlining how the university safeguards its Intellectual Property and other confidential information, particularly concerning Chinese National students.

This request is made on behalf of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to investigating state and federal governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. As members of the media, our role in gathering and disseminating news is crucial for maintaining public transparency and holding institutions accountable. We believe that access to these records will aid us in fulfilling our professional responsibilities.

We have also requested a fee waiver given our status as media professionals involved in public reporting. This request underscores our dedication to providing comprehensive coverage on matters that impact both local communities and broader societal issues.
