U.S. Representative Diana DeGette, who serves Colorado’s 1st district in Congress, recently used her social media platform to highlight local achievements and ongoing community issues in Denver.
On April 12, 2026, DeGette congratulated the University of Denver Pioneers hockey team for their recent victory: “Congrats to the Pios on their 11TH NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP after beating Wisconsin in the Frozen Four! You’ve made Denver proud!”
The following day, she reflected on a personal milestone for her family and the city by marking a centennial celebration: “This weekend, we celebrated 100 years of South High School! My mother, my sisters and I all graduated from South. I’m proud that this school remains a cornerstone of education and community in Denver, and I’m honored to represent them in Congress.” (April 13, 2026)
Later that evening, DeGette addressed labor action among educators: “Teachers are the backbone of our communities. I stand with the teachers striking in Sheridan and urge the parties to come together and find a solution that meets the needs of our public servants.” (April 13, 2026)
DeGette has represented Colorado’s 1st congressional district since replacing Pat Schroeder in 1997. Before her tenure in Congress, she served four years in the Colorado House of Representatives. Born in Tachikawa, Japan in 1957 and now residing in Denver at age 65, DeGette is an alumna of Colorado College (BA) and New York University (JD).
