U.S. Representative Diana DeGette, who has served Colorado’s 1st district in Congress since 1997, recently used her social media platform to criticize former President Donald Trump and independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., addressing issues ranging from economic policy to public health.
On December 8, 2025, DeGette posted about the impact of tariffs implemented during Trump’s presidency, stating: “Trump’s reckless tariff scheme sent farmers into crisis, and now he wants $12 billion from taxpayers to paper over the damage. This needs to stop. The tariffs need to go.”
The following day, December 9, she commented on Trump’s recent self-assessment of his economic record: “Trump just rated his economy an ‘A-plus-plus-plus-plus-plus’ as families in Denver struggle to afford groceries plus health care plus child care plus rent . Donald Trump is out-of-touch and gaslighting the American people.”
Later that same day, DeGette turned her attention to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., writing: “RFK Jr.’s pull up stunt competition with Duffy is ridiculous. He’s wasting time as American biomedical research is under attack and his hand-picked anti-vaccine conspiracy theorists let preventable diseases return.”
DeGette has represented Colorado’s 1st District since succeeding Pat Schroeder in 1997 and previously served in the Colorado House of Representatives from 1993 to 1997. She was born in Tachikawa, Japan in 1957 and currently resides in Denver. DeGette holds a BA from Colorado College (1979) and a JD from New York University (1982).
