U.S. Representative Diana DeGette, who has represented Colorado’s 1st congressional district since 1997, posted a series of tweets criticizing recent political actions and proposals involving former President Donald Trump, Congressman Andy Ogles, and the Trump administration.
On February 9, 2026, DeGette wrote: “Donald Trump and Steve Bannon want to nationalize our elections and deploy the military & federal agents at polling places. This is wrong on every level. We won’t let them turn our democracy into a dictatorship.”
The following day, she addressed demands from Congressman Andy Ogles: “Congressman Andy Ogles is demanding my committee investigate Bad Bunny and the NFL. Let’s get serious: a better use of our time would be to investigate the thousands of mentions of Donald Trump in the Epstein Files.” This tweet was posted on February 10, 2026.
Later that same day, DeGette criticized actions attributed to the Trump administration regarding public health funding: “The Trump administration’s cruelty is unending. Trump is blocking $600 million in CDC funding—money Congress already approved. That’s illegal. And it’s dangerous political retribution, plain and simple.”
Diana DeGette has served in Congress since succeeding Pat Schroeder in 1997 after previously serving in the Colorado House of Representatives from 1993 to 1997. Born in Tachikawa, Japan in 1957 and currently residing in Denver, DeGette holds a BA from Colorado College (1979) and a JD from New York University (1982).
