U.S. Representative Diana DeGette, who represents Colorado’s 1st district in Congress, used her social media platform on December 18, 2025, to criticize Republican leadership and reaffirm her commitment to health care reform.
In a post published on December 18, DeGette commented on recent legislative actions: “That was made even more evident this week as four Republicans joined every Democrat in signing the discharge petition to force a vote on a clean three-year extension, and Speaker Johnson refused to bring it up for a vote.”
She also addressed statements from former President Donald Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson regarding health care policy. On the same day, she wrote: “While Donald Trump and Speaker Johnson claim to have a ‘concept of a plan’ and ‘hundreds of ideas’ for health care policy, the truth is much simpler: they have no real plan to address the health care crisis they created.”
DeGette concluded her series of posts by outlining her own priorities: “I remain focused on finding a real solution that will lower health care costs and make care more accessible for every American.”
Diana DeGette has served in Congress since 1997 after succeeding Pat Schroeder. She previously held office in the Colorado House of Representatives from 1993 to 1997. Born in Tachikawa, Japan in 1957, DeGette currently resides in Denver. She holds degrees from Colorado College (BA) and New York University (JD).
