U.S. Representative Diana DeGette, who has represented Colorado’s 1st district in Congress since 1997, posted a series of tweets on December 18, 2025, criticizing former President Donald Trump’s recent actions and priorities.
In her first post at 02:58 UTC, DeGette stated: “Tonight proved, once again, that Donald Trump is more focused on himself rather than the American people.”
A minute later, she expanded on her criticism by writing: “Instead of working to lower the costs of health care, energy and other every day expenses, he’s usurping Congress’ authority, tearing down the East Wing to build a $400 million ballroom, and going after his political enemies.

Diana DeGette has served as Colorado’s 1st District representative in Congress since succeeding Pat Schroeder in 1997. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the Colorado House of Representatives from 1993 to 1997. Born in Tachikawa, Japan in 1957 and currently residing in Denver, DeGette holds a BA from Colorado College (1979) and a JD from New York University (1982).
