U.S. Representative Diana DeGette, who has represented Colorado’s 1st district in Congress since 1997, posted a series of statements on social media addressing public health misinformation and commemorating Transgender Day of Remembrance.
On November 20, 2025, DeGette wrote: “RFK Jr. is lying to the American people. Vaccines don’t cause autism. Period. His lies are a threat to public health, and he should resign immediately.
I will continue to call out RFK Jr.’s blatant lies as Americans are losing faith in our government to provide trustworthy and https://t.co/fnaJaEMCJT“. In a follow-up post on the same day, she provided additional resources: “For more information about the importance and safety of vaccinations: https://t.co/rwqKNbtgeb”.
The following day, November 21, 2025, DeGette addressed violence against transgender individuals: “On Transgender Day of Remembrance, we honor trans Americans whose lives have been lost to senseless acts of violence.
It’s on all of us to condemn hate against any American, regardless of their gender identity. https://t.co/AXhRzNVLkZ“.
DeGette has held her congressional seat since succeeding Pat Schroeder in 1997 and previously served in the Colorado House of Representatives from 1993 to 1997. Born in Tachikawa, Japan in 1957 and currently residing in Denver, she holds degrees from Colorado College and New York University School of Law.
