U.S. Representative Diana DeGette, who has represented Colorado’s 1st district in Congress since 1997, posted a series of statements on her official social media account criticizing government officials and agencies, as well as reminding constituents about the deadline for Affordable Care Act (ACA) health coverage enrollment.
On January 13, 2026, DeGette called for the impeachment of Secretary Noem. She wrote: “Secretary Noem must be impeached. She has obstructed Congressional oversight, directly violated a court order, violated public trust, and engaged in corruption to enrich herself and close associates. She must be held accountable.”
Two days later, on January 15, 2026, DeGette criticized Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in Minnesota and stated her opposition to funding the Department of Homeland Security under current leadership. In her post she said: “ICE is out of control. Their “operations” in Minnesota continue to show their untrained, unqualified agents are doing significant harm. I will not be voting to fund DHS while Kristi Noem and her thugs are shooting American citizens, launching tear gas at children, and”
Later that same day, DeGette used her platform to remind residents about the ACA enrollment deadline: “Thursday, January 15, is the LAST day to enroll in ACA health coverage starting February 1. After today, you’ll likely need a qualifying event to get covered in 2026. Colorado has new assistance to help lower your monthly costs. Go to https://t.co/9wXjJ4vyAs to enroll or to get”
DeGette’s remarks come amid ongoing debates over federal agency conduct and accountability. Her call for Secretary Noem’s impeachment reflects broader concerns within Congress regarding alleged misconduct by executive branch officials.
In addition to her congressional service since replacing Pat Schroeder in 1997, DeGette previously served in the Colorado House of Representatives from 1993 until her election to Congress. Born in Tachikawa, Japan in 1957 and currently residing in Denver at age 65, she holds degrees from Colorado College (BA) and New York University (JD).
