U.S. Representative Diana DeGette, who has represented Colorado’s 1st district in Congress since 1997, used her social media platform on December 3, 2025, to comment on several policy issues including scientific research funding, energy costs, and military leadership.
In a post published at 14:50 UTC, DeGette stated: “Someone you love is alive today because of an NIH-funded breakthrough — a cancer therapy, a diabetes treatment, an affordable drug developed in a small lab somewhere across our country. Trump’s anti-science agenda is stealing that future from families. Cutting NIH doesn’t save” (December 3, 2025).
Later the same day at 21:32 UTC, she addressed energy policy and congressional action: “Trump promised lower energy bills on Day 1. 316 days later, Republicans on my Committee just blocked my amendment to guarantee exactly that. Every single one voted NO.” (December 3, 2025).
At 23:02 UTC on December 3rd, DeGette highlighted the service of Colorado’s military members and criticized Pete Hegseth’s leadership: “Over 60,000 Colorado service members put their lives on the line for us. They deserve leaders who protect them — not endanger them, as Pete Hegseth did. I called for his resignation then. The case is even clearer today.”
DeGette has served as the U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 1st District since replacing Pat Schroeder in 1997 and previously served in the Colorado House of Representatives from 1993 to 1997. Born in Tachikawa, Japan in 1957 and currently residing in Denver at age sixty-five, she holds degrees from Colorado College and New York University School of Law.
