U.S. Representative Diana DeGette, who has represented Colorado’s 1st district in Congress since 1997, recently used her social media platform to address key national issues and commemorate Veterans Day.

On November 10, 2025, DeGette voiced strong opposition to potential legislative changes affecting health coverage. She stated, “I say hell no to any deal that will cause millions of Americans to lose their health insurance.”

Later the same day, she commented on a significant Supreme Court decision regarding marriage equality. In her post, DeGette wrote, “Fantastic news: the Supreme Court ruled to NOT revisit the landmark Obergefell decision which legalized same-sex marriage. This is a victory for all Americans, as no one should be discriminated against for who they love.”

On November 11, 2025, DeGette recognized military service members in a message marking Veterans Day. She said, “Today, we honor the brave men and women who have served our country in uniform. Our veterans put their lives on the line to defend our freedom and American values abroad. Thank you to all veterans in Denver and across our country for your service.”

DeGette’s statements come amid ongoing debates about healthcare access and civil rights protections at the federal level. The Supreme Court’s decision not to revisit Obergefell v. Hodges maintains the nationwide legalization of same-sex marriage established in 2015.

Diana DeGette has served Colorado’s 1st Congressional District since replacing Pat Schroeder in 1997 after previously serving in the Colorado House of Representatives from 1993 to 1997. Born in Tachikawa, Japan in 1957 and currently residing in Denver, DeGette holds degrees from Colorado College and New York University School of Law.
