U.S. Representative Diana DeGette, who has represented Colorado’s 1st district in Congress since 1997, used her social media platform on December 11, 2025, to comment on rising health care costs and the current measles outbreak.
In a post published at 01:30 UTC, DeGette stated, “21 days before premiums skyrocket for 22 million Americans. In Denver, that means a 60-year-old couple faces $21,202 in extra costs. A family of four faces $12,167 more. Republicans made clear today they have no interest in lowering costs for working families.”
Later that day at 18:19 UTC, she wrote, “Mike Johnson refuses to do the one thing that will actually lower health care costs for Coloradans next year: extend the ACA tax credits.”
On the same date at 20:57 UTC, DeGette addressed public health concerns regarding vaccines by stating, “This measles outbreak is a direct result of RFK Jr.’s anti-vaccine conspiracy theories. He is jeopardizing the health of kids, and yet Republicans in Congress refuse to bring him before my Health Subcommittee. That is an abdication of responsibility, and there must be”.
DeGette has served as Colorado’s 1st District representative since replacing Pat Schroeder in 1997 and previously held office in the Colorado House of Representatives from 1993 to 1997. She was born in Tachikawa, Japan in 1957 and currently resides in Denver. DeGette earned her undergraduate degree from Colorado College and a law degree from New York University.
Her recent posts highlight ongoing debates about Affordable Care Act tax credits and vaccine misinformation as they impact constituents both locally and nationally.
