The University of Denver women’s tennis team is set to open its winter and spring season by participating in the Long Beach State Winter Invitational, which runs from Friday through Sunday. This event marks the final hidden dual-style tournament for Denver before it begins its official dual match play next week.

Denver will compete alongside host Long Beach State, Cal State Fullerton, and Cal State Northridge during the three-day invitational. Each day will feature one round of doubles and one round of singles, with teams facing off against each other in a hidden dual format.

The schedule for the 2026 Long Beach State Winter Invite is as follows: On Friday, January 16, Denver will play doubles against Cal State Northridge at 10 a.m. PT (11 a.m. MT), followed by singles matches against Long Beach State. Saturday’s competition includes doubles versus Long Beach State at 10 a.m. PT (11 a.m. MT) and singles against Cal State Fullerton. The event concludes on Sunday with doubles against Cal State Fullerton at 10 a.m. PT (11 a.m. MT) and singles matches versus Cal State Northridge.

During the fall portion of the 2025-26 season, all ten players from Denver saw action across six different tournaments. Senior Louise Wikander qualified for the NCAA Division I Singles Championships after winning the ITA Mountain Regional singles title in November. Wikander and fellow senior Marley Lambert also competed as a doubles pair at the 2025 ITA Conference Masters Championships.

The team hosted its annual Colorado Cup in October and traveled to events such as the Bedford Cup in the Mountains at Air Force and the H-E-B Invitational hosted by Baylor.

Following this weekend’s invitational, Denver will start its dual match season by hosting Seattle at Denver Tennis Park on Friday, January 23, at 4 p.m. MT. Admission to all home matches this season is free.
