The University of Denver women’s tennis team concluded the Long Beach State Winter Invitational with four wins on Sunday, earning two victories each in singles and doubles competition.
In doubles play against Long Beach State, Denver’s Claudia Martinez de Velasco and Louise Wikander secured a win, as did the pairing of Natálie Cinková and Yunfei Cai. The Pioneers finished doubles with a 2-1 record for the day.
On the singles side, sophomore Natálie Cinková ended her weekend undefeated by winning her third consecutive match after a tiebreaker. Freshman Ruby Hansen also picked up a singles victory, coming from behind to win in a 10-point tiebreak.
Denver will begin dual match play with its home opener against Seattle on Friday, January 23 at 4 p.m. Mountain Time at Denver Tennis Park. Admission to matches is free for the entire season.
