The University of Denver women’s tennis team secured a 7-0 victory over Miami (Ohio) on Saturday at Denver Tennis Park, marking its second win of the season.

Denver started strong in doubles play, losing only two games across the two completed matches. Senior Zoe Adkins and sophomore Natálie Cinková won 6-0 at No. 3 doubles, improving on their previous performance together. The No. 1 pair, seniors Hana Bečirovič Novak and Marley Lambert, earned a 6-2 win to clinch the doubles point for Denver. The No. 2 match was left unfinished with Denver leading 4-3.

In singles competition, five out of six matches were decided in straight sets in favor of the Pioneers. Senior Louise Wikander recorded two 6-1 wins for Denver’s first singles point. Freshman Yunfei Cai followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles, maintaining control throughout both sets.

Marley Lambert secured the clinching point at No. 2 singles by coming from behind in both sets to win in straight sets. Natálie Cinková added another point with a two-set victory at No. 4 singles after taking key breaks late in each set.

Freshman Ruby Hansen rallied from losing her first set and trailing in the second to force a third set tiebreaker before her opponent retired due to injury.

Zoe Adkins played her first dual singles match as a Pioneer and won in straight sets after several traded breaks with her opponent.

The Pioneers will return to action on Sunday when they host Colorado at Denver Tennis Park.
