University of Denver women’s tennis players Yunfei Cai and Marley Lambert have been named the Kwik Star Summit League Doubles Peak Team of the Week, according to an announcement by the Summit League on Tuesday.

Cai, a freshman, and Lambert, a senior, partnered for the first time in dual match play as Denver’s top doubles team. They secured two victories: a 6-3 win during Denver’s Summit League opener against St. Thomas on February 28, which contributed to winning the doubles point for their team, and a 6-2 win at Minnesota on March 1.

This recognition marks Cai’s first Summit League weekly award and is the sixth such honor for Lambert. All of Lambert’s awards have been Doubles Peak Team honors, with Cai being her third different partner to receive this distinction alongside her. Earlier this season, Lambert was also recognized as part of the Doubles Peak Team of the Week on February 3 with fellow senior Hana Bečirović Novak.

So far this year, seven University of Denver women’s tennis players have received a total of eight Summit League honors.

The Denver women’s tennis team is set to return home after a seven-match road trip and will host South Dakota in its Summit League home opener at Denver Tennis Park on Saturday, March 7 at 1 p.m. MT.
