The Denver Pioneers ski team is set to compete in the 2026 Utah Invitational this weekend at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center in Midway, Utah. The event will feature cross-country races beginning Saturday with a 7.5-kilometer freestyle interval start, followed by a 15K classical mass start on Sunday.
This marks the second round of competition for both the Denver Pioneers and other Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association (RMISA) athletes after opening their season at the U.S. Cross Country National Championships in Lake Placid, New York, from January 4-9. That event also served as the Nordic-only RMISA Invitational, where Denver finished sixth overall.
Utah claimed victory in both the RMISA Invite team event and the College Cup at U.S. Nationals.
Denver faced challenges during the Lake Placid races as several team members were ill. Despite these setbacks, some athletes achieved notable results. Freshman Ruby Serrouya finished sixth in the 20K freestyle race, while sophomore-transfer Eemil Juntunen secured his first top-10 finish with Denver by placing sixth in classic sprints—a result that matched his personal best. Senior Micah Steinberg earned his third career top-10 finish and tied a career high by finishing ninth in the 10K classic. Freshman Synne Bollingmo also recorded her first career top-10 result in classic sprints.
