The University of Denver men’s tennis team, ranked No. 71, defeated Omaha 7-0 on April 19 to end its regular season. The win marked the team’s eighth consecutive victory and fifth sweep of the season.

This result follows Denver’s clinching of the Summit League regular season title earlier in the weekend. The team now holds a record of 16-5 overall and remains undefeated in conference play at 5-0.

In doubles play, Denver secured the point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Senior Raffaello Papajcik and freshman Aaron Beduhn won their match 6-2, while senior Ryoma Mishiro and sophomore Samuel Rovai clinched their match by breaking serve in the final game. The top doubles match was left unfinished after Denver had rallied to tie at five games each.

Singles matches were competitive, with four out of six going to three sets, but all resulted in victories for Denver players. Theo Coats lost only one game per set for his win, while Rovai followed a tight first-set tiebreak with a second-set shutout. Beduhn secured two dominant sets around a second-set loss to clinch his singles point.

Papajcik took his singles match in three sets after dropping the second set but regained control in the third for a win. Mishiro came from behind against his former team, overcoming an early deficit in both sets two and three to claim victory at No. 4 singles. Graduate student Connor Robb-Wilcox finished off DU’s sweep by winning his third set decisively after splitting the first two.

Looking ahead, Denver will enter next week’s Summit League Men’s Tennis Championship as the top seed and is scheduled to face Illinois State on April 24.
