The University of Denver men’s tennis team concluded its season with a 0-4 defeat against Texas Christian University in the first round of the NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championship on May 1. The match took place in Fort Worth, Texas, after a brief rain delay postponed play for about 45 minutes.
This appearance marked Denver’s third consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament. The team finished its season with an overall record of 18-6 and was undefeated in Summit League play at 5-0.
In doubles action, TCU secured two early victories on the top courts, giving them a quick lead. Denver’s Raffaello Papajcik and Aaron Beduhn were tied at 4-4 when their match was abandoned as TCU clinched the doubles point elsewhere.
TCU then won singles matches on courts one, four, and six to secure the victory. Denver graduate student Connor Robb-Wilcox kept his second set close but ultimately lost after TCU’s Oliver Bonding broke serve twice. Senior Ryoma Mishiro won his first set—the only Pioneer to do so—before his match was halted during the second set.
The result ends a strong season for Denver men’s tennis as they look ahead to future opportunities.
