The University of Denver men’s tennis team secured its fourth straight win to open the 2026 season, defeating Montana 6-1 at Denver Tennis Park on Sunday.

The doubles competition was closely contested. Denver’s No. 3 pair, senior Raffaello Papajcik and freshman Aaron Beduhn, won their match 6-1 after taking the first five games. Montana responded with a victory at No. 1 doubles, but Denver’s Connor Robb-Wilcox and Theo Coats clinched the doubles point for the Pioneers by breaking serve for a 5-4 lead and serving out the match.

In singles play, Mishiro gave Denver an early advantage with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles. Robb-Wilcox followed by overcoming deficits in both sets to win his match at No. 5 singles, taking four straight games to close out the first set and six consecutive games in the second set.

Coats secured the overall team victory for Denver at No. 3 singles after coming back from an early break to win 6-3, 6-2. Montana earned its only point of the day at No. 6 singles.

Sophomore Samuel Rovai added another point for Denver at No. 2 singles after trading breaks in the first set and winning a tiebreaker in the second set.

Papajcik closed out play with a comeback win in No. 1 singles, recovering from a first-set loss in an extended tiebreak and winning a tight match tiebreaker to seal his victory.

Denver will travel next week for matches against Wichita State and Boise State in Boise, Idaho on February 14-15.
