The University of Denver men’s lacrosse team has released its 2026 season schedule, featuring eight home games and five non-conference matchups. The announcement was made by head coach Matt Brown.
Denver will begin its season on January 31 against Cleveland State at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. This marks only the second time since joining Division I in 1998 that Denver will play a regular season game in January; the previous instance was a win over Utah in 2021.
Following the opener, Denver will host Air Force, continuing a series where the Pioneers have won 17 of the last 18 meetings. The team’s only road game early in the season is against Utah on February 14, after which they return home to face Cornell on February 21 and Michigan on February 28. Denver and Utah have played each other six times in seven years since Utah moved up to Division I. The upcoming game against Cornell will be their third consecutive meeting, with each team having one win so far.
Denver and Michigan, former ECAC conference rivals, are set to play for the fourth time overall. Their last meeting was during the first round of the 2024 NCAA tournament, which Denver won.
A two-game weekend is scheduled for mid-March when Denver visits Ohio State on March 12 before hosting Syracuse on March 16. The matchup with Syracuse is part of a previously announced home-and-home series.
On March 22, Denver travels east to play Duke in its final non-conference game of the season.
The BIG EAST portion of Denver’s schedule includes home games against Georgetown (March 28), St. John’s (April 11), and Marquette (April 24). The Pioneers will also travel to Villanova (April 4) and Providence (April 18). The BIG EAST Men’s Lacrosse Championship is set to take place at Providence from April 30 to May 2.
Coach Matt Brown said: “The University of Denver men’s lacrosse program has finalized its 2026 schedule that includes eight home games, five non-conference contests and BIG EAST home games against Georgetown, St. John’s and Marquette.”
