The University of Denver has announced a change in venue for the cross country races at next week’s 2026 DU Invitational. The event, originally scheduled to take place at Maloit Park in Minturn, Colorado, will now be held at the Frisco Nordic Center in Frisco, Colorado. Organizers cited recent snow conditions in the Vail Valley as the reason for relocating the races.

The Denver Invitational is set for Saturday and Sunday, February 7-8. The competition also serves as a junior national qualifier for area skiers. Team Summit is partnering with Denver to host the Nordic meet.

Racing begins on Saturday, February 7 with a 10-kilometer classical mass start at 10 a.m. Mountain Time. The event concludes on Sunday, February 8 with a 7.5K freestyle interval start at 9 a.m.

Spectators are welcome to attend and watch athletes from the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association near the start and finish areas by the ballfield, though space along the course is limited.

Earlier this month, collegiate teams began their season with races at Lake Placid during the RMISA Invitational and continued last weekend at Soldier Hollow for the Utah Invite. The alpine portion of this year’s Denver Invitational took place January 12-14 at Loveland Ski Area and Aspen Highlands.

Currently, Denver sits in second place overall in its own invitational meet, trailing by just 37 points.
