The University of Denver gymnastics team is ranked No. 17 in the Week 4 Road to Nationals rankings, which were released on Monday.
Denver recorded a score of 196.000 in its Big 12 Conference opener at West Virginia on Saturday. The team improved its scores through each rotation and finished with a beam score of 49.250.
The team’s national rankings are as follows: No. 17 overall with an average score of 196.142, No. 20 on vault (48.983), No. 15 on beam (49.067), and No. 12 on floor (49.250). The team increased its average beam score above the 49-point mark while maintaining its vault average compared to the previous week.
Senior Cecilia Cooley is tied for fifth nationally on floor with an average score of 9.9517 after ranking first in the country through her first two meets this season.
Cooley also shares the team’s lead on beam with Reidenbach, both averaging a score of 9.833. On vault, freshman Shyla Bhatia holds a team-leading average of 9.858, placing her just outside the top-25 nationally in a tie for No. 27, while fellow freshman Kaitlynd Kastl leads DU’s individual rankings with a vault average of 9.800.
Denver will return home after two weeks competing away and will host Iowa State in a Big 12 Conference meet on Sunday, February 1 at 2:45 p.m MT at home; the event will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
