University of Denver gymnast Kiley Rorich has been named the Big 12 Conference Event Specialist of the Week, according to an announcement made by the conference on Tuesday.

Rorich made her season debut on floor exercise during Denver’s meet against Utah on March 1. She matched her career high score of 9.900 despite a technical issue in which her floor music stopped midway through her routine. “Shortly after she finished her first tumbling pass, the audio malfunctioned in the arena, leaving Rorich to finish her routine without her music. She did so with encouragement from her teammates, the crowd and even the Utah gymnasts, hitting her leaps and double pike to finish the routine with a smile on her face,” stated Denver Gymnastics.

Her performance tied for the highest floor score among Denver gymnasts in that rotation and contributed to DU’s final team total of 196.100.

This marks Rorich’s second career weekly honor from the Big 12 Conference but is her first as Event Specialist of the Week. She is also the fifth member of Denver’s gymnastics team to receive weekly recognition from the conference this season and is noted as the first event specialist honoree for DU this year.

The University of Denver gymnastics team, currently ranked No. 23 nationally, will compete twice over four days. They are scheduled for a tri-meet at Air Force alongside San Jose State on Friday, March 6 at 7 p.m. MT, followed by their final home meet of the season against Air Force on Sunday, March 9 at 5:45 p.m. MT.

Tickets for upcoming meets can be purchased online, by phone at 303-871-4625 or directly at the Ritchie Center Box Office.
