The Denver Art Museum (DAM) has announced its plans for the 2025 season, featuring a lineup of Colorado creatives and artists as part of the museum’s Community Mural project and Untitled: Artist Takeover events. The initiative aims to foster deeper connections with the Denver-metro community by incorporating local artists’ work into the museum.

The Community Mural project began in 2021 alongside the reopening of the Lanny and Sharon Martin building. It invites local artists to submit mural proposals that emphasize connections within the community. A lead artist is chosen based on their understanding of DAM’s theme, artistic approach, and community involvement strategy. Details about this year’s mural will be revealed during January’s Untitled event.

“Here at the DAM, we’re always looking for new ways to invite the community into the museum,” said Heather Nielsen, Chief Learning and Engagement Officer and Deputy Director of DAM. “The Denver Art Museum is the community’s museum, and we want everyone to know that and always feel welcomed in the galleries and other spaces.”

Untitled: Artist Takeover 2025 begins on January 31 with visual artist Sarah Darlene and performing artist Fox Drickey. Darlene’s work explores physical and spiritual boundaries through non-traditional painting methods involving various materials. Drickey, formerly of Chimney Choir, now focuses on their new musical project King Bee, which blends theatrical elements with performance.

All exhibitions are open during Untitled events with general admission, though entry to “Wild Things: The Art of Maurice Sendak” requires an additional ticket. The Untitled series will continue throughout 2025 with events scheduled for April 25, July 25, and October 31.

General admission is free for members and those under 18 through DAM’s Free for Kids program. For more information on these events, audiences are encouraged to visit DAM’s website or social media channels using #UntitledDAM.
